GrowNYC
UX Project Management Content Strategy
GrowNYC is a historic nonprofit in New York City, operating farmer’s markets, sustainability programming, and environmental education programs across the five boroughs since 1976. They approached us at Studio Simpatico for help creating a new website from the ground up. Their site hadn’t been touched in over a decade, and was in dire need of updating from both user experience and visual design perspectives.
As a former employee of the organization myself, I was thrilled to project manage the engagement with GrowNYC and lead the project from a strategy and user experience perspective. We began the process with discovery meetings, speaking with teams from all the different programs at the organization. From there I created a new site map, wireframes for every page across the site, and a detailed technical architecture plan that took all technical integrations into account.
Design and implementation
I worked closely with our visual design team at the studio as they designed out every page on the site, and applied the organization’s existing branding to its full effect. Once all designs were complete, I teamed up with our developers and technical architect to make sure that all aspects of the site from the wireframes to the visuals came together with the technical integrations smoothly.
The new GrowNYC.org is a beautiful, fully realized modular site that tells the story of the organization. And – importantly – it allows users to find what they’re looking for quickly and easily. Check it out here!
