LIFTED Album Cover
ART DIRECTION HANDMADE
A fresh concept for the classic Bright Eyes album, with a photo shoot featuring a suspended orange and hand painted backdrop. This concept embodies the off-kilter, more-than-meets-the-eye nature of the album.
The suspended orange takes inspiration from the paintings of René Magritte and the song “Bowl of Oranges.” The back of the album features a roughly painted star shape, in part inspired by imagery in the album as well as the rough-and-ready style of recording often heard on Bright Eyes records.
The bowl is a hand thrown ceramic bowl (not made by me) that was shattered (by me) and repaired (by me) using the kintsugi method, using resin and gold pigment.
